Forum Rules These rules must be followed at all times. They will be enforced by the administrators at all times as well.
General
ASHLAND is a mature and literate site. You must be fourteen to join, so do not join if you are not yet fourteen. This also means that there will be graphic mature content. Fight scenes may be frequent and are allowed to be very detailed. Mature scenes are also allowed as long as;; R is in the title of the thread. ASHLAND is set in the Ashland, USA. Your characters can be any nationality, but you must include in their past how they came to Ashland. This is simply so members do not get confused. Activity is a must for members of ASHLAND. Everyone finds themselves muse less sometimes, but members are expected to post at least twice a week, and more if they have more than one character. Regular activity checks will be held, after which all inactive members, along with their characters, will be deleted or put in the 'declined' board. Because of this, please let me know when you're going to be away by PMing me, emailing me, or posting in the absentee board. Show respect for fellow members and especially staff. There will be no racist or sexist or homophobic remarks made to other members, and no arguing about pointless things. If you have a problem with a member, take it to the staff.
Characters
Members may only have one account per character. Their display name must be the name (first AND last) of their character in lower case[to keep the site looking pretty]. If one wants more than one character, create another account to avoid all confusion. Members are allowed up to three characters-thus three accounts. However, these characters must be kept active. If a member is easily keeping active both of their characters, they may be awarded place for another character. Pictures of your characters must be real-life photos. Although anime pictures are very beautiful, they often do not depict the stature of real people. Also, it is difficult to imagine them integrating into modern society. Celebrity pictures are accepted only. Characters may have pets, but these cannot be role played by other members. Canon Characters: Canon characters are pre-made characters. You may reserve a canon character for up to three days unless you have spoken to the administrator. For canon characters you still have to fill out a character application. This is a modern day rpg, so all technological equipment available today can be used when role playing. However, your character cannot have many expensive devices with no explanation of how they got the money to buy them. It is set in Ashland so hopefully you can figure out a job to make up for the money they used for all the technology.
Roleplaying
All posts must be written in third person and in past tense. We want members who are semi literate to literate. A few spelling mistakes here and there is okay, but if you cannot master standard grammar, this is not the place for you. Use the spell check, and don't write in chat speak when role playing. You must also make detailed posts. It's impossible to reply to a one-liner. ONE LINERS ARE NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES I understand if you get writer's block. Either speak with the person you are roleplaying with or just do not reply until your muse comes back. Also, use periods, exclamation points, quotation marks, and apostrophes [etc] in the necessary places! When a character is speaking, make sure you either bold the words they are saying or use "quotation marks" so everyone understands your character is actually saying something. All thought must be italicized to avoid confusion. Posts must be 350+ words. There is a word count at the bottom of the reply box. So NO excuses. I repeat: the setting is in Ashland. Please be somewhat realistic. No perfects! If you want to reserve a thread for a certain member, by all means put their name in the title. However, if the thread is open, do not put "Open" in the title. Any thread is considered open unless it contains a member's name or has "Closed" in the title. Okay, so you may have joined ASHLAND with a friend, but don't just role play with them. It gets boring if all your threads, relationships and conversations revolve around one member, and it's good for you to try role playing with members of differing role play styles. So, don't always reserve posts for your friends. Do not double post in threads. The only occasion when this is allowed is if you need to bump a thread, and you must only bump if the thread is inactive for more than five days [this does not apply if there are no more threads made in the same board within this time]. the password to the character board is: admin edited. I will know if you meerely skimmed the rules to get the password and you will be kicked off the site for not following the first rule on this subboard: MUST READ
